Summer 2023
In 2022, among coinciding exhibitions, Gibson/Martelli showed at the 79th Venice International Film Festival of La Biennale di Venezia, the 66th BFI London Film Festival and Festival d’Avignon. For Tuxedo Residency, the artists have developed a series of virtual reality experiences using machine learning to generate imagery from prompts, which are then laboriously converted into 3d characters and subsequently animated using motion captured dance.
Khaleb Brooks
Winter 2022 – Spring 2023
Khaleb Brooks is an interdisciplinary artist, researcher and writer exploring blackness, transness and collective memory. Meshing the black queer figure with surreal environments in paintings, using printmaking to question the politics of desire and entering transcendental states in performance, they force their audience to confront the literal and social death of black people globally.

Derek Boshier
Spring 2021
Among the first exponents of British Pop Art, Derek Boshier participated in the landmark 1962 Young Contemporaries exhibition that brought Pop Art to the attention of the wider public. The artist works in a variety of media, including painting, drawing, collage, and sculpture. In the 1970s, the artist expanded from painting to photography, film, video, assemblage, and installations, yet he returned to painting by the end of the decade. On what shapes his work, Boshier commented: “Most important is life itself, my sources tend to be current events, personal events, social and political situations, and a sense of place and places”.
